QUALIFYING MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS

QUALIFYING PORTAL: Follow the link for pairings, live scoring, results and player information. You can also access the qualifying portal by using the USGA Tournament Management app on your phone. To access the page, login using the GGID: USJRAM-BREM18

 

FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES: Stroke play competition conducted over 18 holes.  The field of 83 contestants will compete for three qualifying places and two alternate positions into the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship to be held at Baltustrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey on July 16-21, 2018.

 

REGISTRATION: Players need to register inside the clubhouse upon arrival at the golf course.  Players should arrive in time to register, practice and report to the starting tee, ready to play, 8 minutes before their starting times. 

 

STARTING TIMES: Attached, and available on the Washington State Golf Association’s website, thewsga.org.  Online scoring will be available during the qualifier.  Tee times will be off the #1 tee from 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  LINK TO PAIRINGS

 

 

PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for the last qualifying places, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternate if necessary.  All announcements regarding the play-off will be made at the public scoreboard upon completion of the qualifying round.

 

FOOTWEAR: Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course) are prohibited during the stipulated round.  Penalty for breach of this condition: DISQUALIFICATION.

 

DMDS: In Sectional qualifying and in the Championship proper, a player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3. GOLF BALLS/DRIVERS: The “One Ball Rule” will be in effect.  Please check the USGA website, www.usga.org, for a list of approved golf balls and drivers.

 

GROOVES: The players clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010 (see Decision 4-1/1).

 

PACE OF PLAY: It is a condition that player must play without undue delay and in accordance with guidelines established by committee.  Guidelines will be distributed by email.

 

PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY: Players may play one hosted practice round.  Practice rounds will be available from 12:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19 or on the weekdays prior on a space available basis.  Contestants must call the golf shop at (360) 415-5432 to make arrangements.  All practice rounds will be at the discretion of the golf shop.

 

PRACTICE FACILITIES/RANGE BALLS: Range balls will be hosted on the driving range beginning at 6:30 a.m.

 

CADDIES: Host club caddies will not be available.  Players are allowed to have a caddie. A player is prohibited from having a parent, step parent, or guardian serve as his caddie during the stipulated round.  Penalty: See penalty clause for breach of the condition prescribed in Appendix I, Part C, Section 3 of the Rules of Golf.

 

CARTS: Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee.

 

SPECTATOR CARTS: Spectator carts will not be permitted.

 

GOLF SHOP: Open at 6:00 a.m.  Methods of payment accepted in the golf shop are cash and all major credit cards.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT: As set forth in the USGA application, the code of conduct applies to all USGA Qualifying and Championships.

 

PERSONAL APPEARANCE: Contestants, caddies and spectators must be neat in appearance.  Bermuda length shorts may be worn.  Short shorts, tee shirts, tank tops and blue jeans are prohibited.  Shirts must have collars.

 

FOOD SERVICE: The Gold Mountain Golf Club Restaurant will open at 7:00 a.m. with full food service throughout the day.

 

AWARD CEREMONY: Silver Medal will be awarded to lowest scorer and lowest amateur scorer.
